OK, here's "a new one" (I think). This is with XY 12.40.0100, just downloaded and "installed" today (I'm using the portable version). I ~believe~ this was working fine with the last version I was using (I think it was beta 12.40.0005), but I won't actually guarantee that it worked OK.
I want to have all C: (etc.) drive and folder icons in yellow (etc.), with closed folders for the default icons, and open folders for when each drive or folder is selected, etc. (i.e., different colors for each drive and all its folders).
When I start XY, all the drive and folder ~colors~ seem fine, and the ~folder~ icons all ~work~ fine (showing closed and open icons correctly). The only problem is with the ~drive~ icons -- while each drive has the correct color, they show only ~closed~ folder icons, even when selected.
However, if I then open up the Customize File Icons dialog box, and then just simply click OK (without making ~any~ changes at all), ~immediately~ the drive icons start showing the proper open and closed icon action (instead of showing just the closed icons, as they were doing before I clicked OK).
It doesn't seem to matter whether or not I save my "new" configuration before exiting each time -- I've tried it both ways. (It's not really a "new" configuration each time while runnng this series of tests, but, any time I did click OK to close the Customize File Icons dialog box, XY would naturally "think" that the configuration was changed.)
The settings I'm using for each drive's driver and folder icons follow this basic pair of patterns (with only the color of the icon changing for each drive):
C:\>ylwclsdfolder.ico|ylwopenfolder.ico
C:\ /r>ylwclsdfolder.ico|ylwopenfolder.ico
I suppose it's possible that my pairs of patterns are not quite correct, but then why does clicking OK make the settings work fine? (It seems as if the OK forces a refresh somehow, something that did not take place at startup.)
I tried setting "PortableTabs=7" in XYplorer.ini, and then remming it out, etc., but that seemed to have no effect, one way or the other.
Thanks for listening.

Yeah, confirmed (also your analysis). Fix comes. Thanks!

Re: Custom Drive Open and Closed Icons
I just tried out beta V.12.40.0104 (portable), and the problem (the lack of drives displaying open folder icons at startup) has now gone away. So, that's my report, and I thank you for fixing it so fast. (Oh, by the way, the change log didn't mention this change, but it obviously had been addressed.)

Re: Custom Drive Open and Closed Icons
The holy change log did mention it:
Code: Select all
! Custom File Icons: Open state icons for drives were not set on
startup. Fixed.FAQ | XY News RSS | XY X
Re: Custom Drive Open and Closed Icons
Yes, I see that now. I don't know why I didn't see it earlier - when I looked at it just before downloading the beta zipfile, all I saw mentioned was one of the other changes, and not the longer set of multiple changes there now. Sorry.
