1) Your XYplorer Version (e.g., v28.00.0801)
2) Your Windows Version (e.g., Win 11)
3) Your Screen Scaling Percentage (e.g., 125%).

:info: We strongly recommend adding your Windows Version and Screen Scaling Percentage to the Location field in your Profile or to your Signature. That way, you only have to type them once, and we won't have to search for that vital information.

No "before load" message before the crash?? :?
Just a crash. Windows starts asking me to send MS a bug report (grrr).

This has done this to me from .0003 when I try enabling thumbnail view.

Did you really type the messages by hand?? (I know you are sorry  ) I really only need the last before the crash.
I'm the Copy&Paste master ;) It's all that renaming I did before I searched for apps that did it for me

You should have seen the collection of screenshots I had originally :D I'll just give you the last one next time ;)
Used to update to the latest beta every day. Now I have children instead…

Now I will type all messages from 0015, by hand of course:

gdi 0
gdi 4
gdi 41

crash

0015

With MDBU in the jpg thumbnails it gives just two messages, before load and after load and then crashes.

And with info panel view of jpg it gives same messages as lukescammell. and crashes after "after load".

OK, back again after some meditation.

Enough of those message boxes! This was a dead end street...

Now I did something very radical. IF it works then everything will be better than it ever was!! IF...

WOWEEEEEEE!!!

Here's what I did: I removed reference to GDI+!!!!!
Means:
- XYplorer now runs on systems with no GDIplus installed.
- XYplorer now runs on Win95!* (sic)

This is incredible! I always hated the GDIplus dependence since I added it (v3.30.0001 - 29.09.03 10:21) -- three years of shame and suffering have ended! Now XYplorer is fully stand-alone again!

A BIG THANKS to lukescammell and his BIG bug following his BIG (fulfilled!) wish!

And thanks to you all for sharing this horrible morning (or whatever your timezone said it was).

* I tried it and it doees not really work well and I will not officially claim Win95-compatibility -- but at least it starts. First time since > 3 years!

Morning it was, afternoon now -- and it's great to see xy shining again! First time I've seen the file size go -down- with an update in a while, yay for no more gdi+ :D

Glad we were able to help you, in our small way, to sort out this annoying bug.

Just confirming that 017 runs like it should here also! No more crash/bang/boom! 8) Hope my DrWatson logs were a bit of help...and I know the feeling when things go really wrong in a program, so hang in there...we're all here to support you! :D
Still spending WAY TOO much time here! But it's such a pleasure helping XY be a treasure!
(XP on laptop with touchpad and thus NO mouse!) Using latest beta vers when possible.
