new user (some questions)

Post by dragonetti »

Hello I am new here, purchased a lifetime license a week ago, have some "basic" questions.
(answers I could not find in the settings (F9))

I was wondering if XY could be adjusted to do the following:
  • Is there a vertical view setting for the panes (tabs)?
  • Is it possible to adjust the "home" setting of a tab in such a way that when the user switches to another tab within the same pane it sets itself back to the "home" location. For example if I have tab called 'test' and set its default location to "c:\test" and navigate to "c:\test\abc" and then switch to another tab called "test2", the tab called "test" should set itself back to "c:\test"
  • Is there a way to add a button-bar beneath the default buttonbar?
  • Is there an easier to update (save) a collection of tabsets? For example I have a tabset called 'test' which has 3 tabs and then I add 2 tabs, if I then want to save the tabset I get the following message:
    "cannot save under current name"
  • Is there an easier way to delete a saved tabset, I now do it by deleting it in the "XYplorer.ini" and deleting it in the "tabs-folder"

Hello and welcome!

A very good decision, I would say! (In a week it is over with new lifetime licenses.)
Is there a vertical view setting for the panes (tabs)?
I am not sure if I understand what you mean. Have you tried Ctrl-F10 for panes? Tabs can not be arranged vertically.
Is there a way to add a button-bar beneath the default buttonbar?
No, as far as I know.
Is there an easier to update (save) a collection of tabsets? For example I have a tabset called 'test' which has 3 tabs and then I add 2 tabs, if I then want to save the tabset I get the following message:
"cannot save under current name"
Oh yes, but via scripting. Consider these two scripting approaches for this and similar things:
Session Manager: http://www.xyplorer.com/xyfc/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=8691
MyTabsets: http://www.xyplorer.com/xyfc/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=8722
Is there an easier way to delete a saved tabset, I now do it by deleting it in the "XYplorer.ini" and deleting it in the "tabs-folder"
The same scripts as above (and some direct deleting too, in some cases), I would say.

The rest of your questions I leave to others.
