Thanks! If nothing else I enjoy supporting products that have such a good level of customer interaction... even if things don't go my way.

Don't get me wrong on my whole stance either, I'm all for speed and efficiency before all else, and it looks like you've got your priorities well placed for this file manager. Time to continue giving it a second shot :D

I guess I can check back every so often, but if you're not expecting to work on it anytime soon, you could help me out by letting me know, does the icon request's position on the "list" put it's estimated implementation at roughly weeks, months, or even just days? Thanks.

ASAP, like all other stuff on the list, too.

BTW, I saw your big icons are 48x48, mine are only 32x32. Is that a Windows setting?

From "Registry Guide for Windows" by WinGuides:

Code: Select all

Are your icons too small? Or too big? This setting will let you resize them to suit your desktop preference.

Open your registry and find the key below.

Create a new value named 'Shell Icon Size' and set the value, or modify the existing value, to equal the size of your icons in pixels. Smaller values = smaller icons!

User Key: [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Desktop\WindowMetrics]
Name: Shell Icon Size
Type: REG_SZ (String Value)
Value: Size in Pixels (Default = 32)
I tried setting it to 48 and it enlarged my Win Expl icons when in "large icon" view setting...there is apparently a GUI vers of tweak avail via their software to set it also...
Still spending WAY TOO much time here! But it's such a pleasure helping XY be a treasure!

That or what I did is simply goto display properties > appearance > advanced > icon = enter what size you want here, though I may be wrong... it does have a max of around 80 though, but I imagine all this will be changed with Vista, as it supports super-huge icons (like 4000x4000 or something), possibly even being created from vector information, like on OS X?

Ok... so I found the back-door method and didn't realize there was a perfectly good and open front door available! Well, as I don't use icons much, I didn't know about that option...Thanks!

the only use i see for those big thumbnails in wexplorer is the preview of pictures inside. than comes indeed handy. other than that.. just eyecandy.
folders can be identified and/o highlighted by many other ways.

Aye, eye candy or not, the only use I see of having 16x16 icons in 180x180 grids space is to make things look bad / confusing. So given my choices, I'm going to take the eye candy over not.

But it's a good thing we don't all see the world through one person's eyes, cause software wouldn't be nearly as useful, hell I bet if we let just one sole person pick out XYplorer's feature set based on their needs, it'd have less than half of what it does now. ;)

Cool, we got 32x32! Thanks... now just to get it so it's XxY ;)

I can't complain about the support though, that was very fast. If you could do 64x64 or atleast 48x48 that'd suit me for now, even 32x32 is quite tiny...

So I'll patiently wait and see how you make out, but you have my money, I'll be registering this tomorrow.

Still Displaying 16x16 ?

Post by phatmankerr »

Am I doing something wrong as XY is still displaying the majority of my icons at 16x16 (see below). Although it will display the odd icon at 32x32 (printer icon).

The other icons e.g. the flag have an embedded 32x32 image ?

Jacky's post

Post by phatmankerr »

Sorry didn't see Jacky's post - is there anyway to get XY to ignore the properties size value for Icons and just display at the max size ?

Very sad but I used Autohotkey to write a macro that opens and then saves two rows of icons in Iconlab which then reverts the properties to maximum icon size (so they display at maximum size) - but it's a bit tedious.

Not to worry will continue with my icon resizing excercise.

Thanks

Andy
