Collapse tree and return to root using keyboard?

Looking for a quick way to accomplish the following:

(1) Say I'm in the XYplorer Application Folder under C:\Program Files; and

(2) I want to immediately jump to the root C:\ location while collapsing the entire (C:\) tree behind me.

(3) This would then free me to arrow down to other drives in the list very quickly, especially if I'm accessing a folder on a drive just once, wanting to get in and out as quickly as possible.

(4) If I use the NUMPAD * (multiply) key to fully expand the selected node, and then drill down several nodes, it would be nice to be able to roll back all the folders and move on cleanly and quickly. Using Backspace is only convenient for 2-3 nodes at most, since the mouse would be quicker after that point.

Is there a way to do this with the keyboard? (I'm using 5.10.0045 beta.)

This may not be the ideal, but here's what I found to do this task:
1) Cntl+backspc : show Breadcrumb menu
2) Up arrow(s) : move to C:\
(however, I found using down arrow to "wrap around" took less repeats)
3) Enter : Select C:\
3) Numpad+/ :to collapse C:\

But personally, I'd have it long since done via mouse before I found the right keys!

Currently not possible but Ctrl+Numpad Div would be a nice candidate for "Fully collapse current drive" (which will automatically send you to the root folder).
What does everybody think?

Looks good to me.

Also, how about Ctrl+Home to move to the drive of the current path, but leave the tree un-collapsed. That way it would be possible to navigate quickly to another drive without, loosing the tree of the current drive.

I see I'll have to respond quicker in future.

Ctrl+Home is already in use to move the list focus to top without changing selections. Otherwise a nice idea.
Maybe play with Ctrl+Numpad Div ...and throw in a Shift or an Alt???
Maybe the collapsing job should have the heavier shortcut:

Numpad Div = collapse current
Ctrl+Numpad Div = go to topfolder
Ctrl+Shift+Numpad Div = go to topfolder and collapse

Well, not very streamlined... rather confusing.

Other ideas...?

I see. I was focused on the tree when I tried Ctrl+Home and it behaved like Home. Can you not make Ctrl+Home work in the tree differently from the list? I'm sure you can, but is there a good reason not to do it?

I don't find that setup confusing, as the more functions you want, the more keys you need!

And for me, I prefer having shortcut keys (on rare occasions I use them) work as much as possible the same no matter where my mouse is...now I realize some are likely duplicated but those may be dependent on other prior functions or mouse/menu locations...just my $.01

Seems like the the most commonly used operation should get the shortest, fastest keyboard shortcut, essentially flipping the choices above. But that wouldn't make it logical, like the navigational keys are right now. However, CTRL+Numpad Div is easy and is quicker than an augenblick — thanks, this is really convenient and let's me close the tree, making everything visually tidy.

So either the way it is now with CTRL+Numpad Div or merely Numpad Div to collapse the tree (or "go to topfolder and collapse") is really easy. I can accomplish the other two with current keyboard shortcuts such as Backspace and ALT+Left/Right and CTRL+Left, not to mention the new CTRL+Backspace.

Oh yes, it's possible. Ctrl+ArrowUp/Down have special functions in tree as well, namely cycle among sibling nodes (who of you did know this?

So it's gonna be like this

Numpad Div = fully collapse current folder (as is now)
Ctrl+Numpad Div = go to topfolder and fully collapse it (as is now)
Ctrl+Home (tree focus only) = go to topfolder (newly added)

That looks fine. Thanks for implementing the Ctrl+Home - it seems the logical key combination to me.

It took me a couple of min to realize what sibling nodes were...found that it's folders on the same nesting level in tree, and when one has subfolders to those open, it will skip around the subfolders and go to next sibling...whereas standard up/down arrows will go thru the subfolders...
