Quickly, how about TROXYP for Tropical XYP? can be pronounced Troksip.admin wrote:I like Filyx, but as I said, I'm finished with the idea of changing the name, and I don't think Filyx would be good for the tropical edition: it has the problem of spelling and pronouncing.

Re: TAFKAX
But there already is a file manager called Nexus.FluxTorpedoe wrote:As for the name of TAFKAX & for the sake of amusement, I had thought of Nexys... (though the domain belongs to one of those shallow domain name resellers).

Not much to recommend it, but his font viewer is quite good.
But names ending in ...xys is a promising avenue, as anything ending in ...xy sounds kind of frivolous to me.
LEXYS anyone?
lexys.com is (maybe) available
Good work on the font find btw

Great, thanks (for the font)!FluxTorpedoe wrote:Fritz Quadrata - Example at linotype.comadmin wrote:BTW, does anybody happen to know the font used in the above link?
Note that as usual the white on black feels "denser" than black on white.
As for the name of TAFKAX & for the sake of amusement, I had thought of Nexys... (though the domain belongs to one of those shallow domain name resellers).
Nexys is nice (I associate Henry Miller with a digital twist). Oh, how I love those domain name resellers!

Re: TAFKAX
Yes, strange, but I cannot stop playing with ideas. Help!Don's put the name issue to rest but he does keep coming back to it. So, while ideas keep coming...
Cortex ... too medical.
Linnaeus ... too hard to spell.
TROXYP ... too weird.
LEXYS ... leads me away from a file manager.

I once wrote a German first names generator:

Can be very funny, especially with a little help of certain substances.

XYBERNAUT
It's got XY still intact and prominent.
It's a play on 'cybernaut' - a navigator/explorer of cyberspace.
Most people will get the meaning and pronounciation.
And the "Xybernaut Corporation...was founded in 1990" and xybernaut.com is already f***king taken!
Can you believe that?
But
XYBER
xyber.com is still available
As are some of these
XYBERNET
XYBERSPACE
XYBERZONE
XYBERPUNK
XYBERIA
XYBERFILE
XYBERG
XYBORG
XYBERSERK
XYBERMAN
XYBERTRON
XYBERTRACKER
XYBER COMMANDER
XYBER OPUS
...and there are many other xyber- prefixed possibilities. But time to go.

Re: TAFKAX
Actually XYBER may be better than XYBERNAUT, especially in the context it will be used.
XYBER file manager.
Nice and short, easy to remember, only two syllables that convey a lot of meaning...

Kman
Just my real name written in reverse order. K is easy to make cool icon; man = management.
