Video & Audio Length Column

Post by JoyceAE »

I would like to be able to include the actual length of my video and audio files in the right-hand pane. I have tried using the Len column but it doesn't show the information I need. For example, I have a video file that is 1:23:37 in length but the Len column shows 68. I am not sure what the Len column is used for.

Any ideas on how I can view this information correctly? I have to use other 'explorer' software in order to see this information.

Thanks,
Joyce

This information is only available in the File Info Tips (hoverig the file with the mouse), or in the Meta tab on the Info Panel. Not as column.

It shows the length of the name of the file so you can locate names that cause issues by being too long.
Still spending WAY TOO much time here! But it's such a pleasure helping XY be a treasure!
(XP on laptop with touchpad and thus NO mouse!) Using latest beta vers when possible.

I guess it would be nice if it could be an optional column. When viewing a long list of MP3 files for example, it would be convenient when trying to find an audio track of the proper length when creating a photo slideshow. Most other Explorer options have the ability to choose quite a number of optional columns in their software. Check out some of the freeware versions and you will see what I mean.

Maybe this could be included in a future release perhaps?

Great news! I look forward to it in an upcoming release. Any idea on when this might be?

It's been a while. Any news on this? Viewing the audio length of files is vital to my work. It's the only thing I have to go back to the standard windows explorer for. Wouldn't of thought it can be that hard to implement?

Sorry, that and also audio bit rates would be helpful too.

Woudn't it be enough to have it in the Tiles view?

Custom column is on road map, but I guess it will not come any soon.
Anyway, you can use scripting to view a report of any info from every files in current List.
Or I can popup a HTML table listing all file name & lenght in 2 separate column (clickable)
I'm a casual coder using AHK language. All of my xys scripts:

Hmm, I see. The durations are there in the "Large Tiles" view only but I never work with that view. I only ever work in the "Details" view as I work with lots of files and can easily view more files this way.
