Folder sizes don't display the full width (item count + size) until after ALL folders in the current folder. Should display the full width (item count + size) WHILE calculating folder sizes. And if the "items" text could optionally be dropped and instead put the item count in parentheses, like "(9) 8.01 GB" without any double spaces, it would save some width.
Folder sizes are immediately forgotten when the folder is navigated out of. Folder sizes should be remembered until recalculated, refreshed, or XYplorer is restart.
Would also be nice if folder sizes would calculate for the mouseovered folder (like Directory Opus) if that folder size isn't already shown, of course.

Re: Folder sizes
Not 100% sure but highly suspect that it's because the width needed isn't known UNTIL the entire set of folders is processed...Eep² wrote:Folder sizes don't display the full width (item count + size) until after ALL folders in the current folder. It's forgotten because the values have likely changed in meantime...and also...where would you propose storing all that data? That could easily amount to thousands of items to be kept somewhere...doesn't seem like a good use of resources to me.Folder sizes are immediately forgotten when the folder is navigated out of. Would need to be an option that is selectable at that time as the time needed to calculate could be lengthy.Would also be nice if folder sizes would calculate for the mouseovered folder (like Directory Opus) if that folder size isn't already shown, of course.
Still spending WAY TOO much time here! But it's such a pleasure helping XY be a treasure!

Re: Folder sizes
The width could be governed by the first entry which is immediately cut off once it displays. XYplorer should expand the width to the first calculated folder and expand it incrementally as more folders are calculated.j_c_hallgren wrote:Not 100% sure but highly suspect that it's because the width needed isn't known UNTIL the entire set of folders is processed...Eep² wrote:Folder sizes don't display the full width (item count + size) until after ALL folders in the current folder. Directory Opus stores the computed folder sizes fine without slowing down...j_c_hallgren wrote:It's forgotten because the values have likely changed in meantime...and also...where would you propose storing all that data? Directory Opus does it fine without slowing down too...j_c_hallgren wrote:Eep² wrote:Would need to be an option that is selectable at that time as the time needed to calculate could be lengthy.Would also be nice if folder sizes would calculate for the mouseovered folder (like Directory Opus) if that folder size isn't already shown, of course.
