How to add context menu items

Post by Magnus »

I'm hoping to use XYplorer as full replacement for Win7's file manager, so I'm curious how to add the right-click context items I use most in Windows Explorer. For example,

Scan with Microsoft Security Essentials
Scan with Malwarebytes Anti-Malware
Install with Revo Uninstaller Pro
Bulk Rename Here
Axcrypt >
Pick Link Source
Unlocker
7-zip >

Thanks!

Hi and welcome,

Do you use a 64-bit version of Windows 7? If so, this FAQ applies.

Regardless of the above, Configuration > Extended > Context Menus > Hide shell extensions from shell context menu, needs to be disabled.

Thanks for your reply. Seems like I'm a victim of 64-bit technology. lol. Any timeline for 64-bit here? Beta?

There are some programs that install both 32- and 64-bit shell extensions as listed here. Alternatively, some programs offer the option of either installing only the 32-bit version or both the 32- and 64-bit version of the application, although security software doesn't belong to that group.

Finally, it's possible to script a solution and put the script in a custom toolbar button or the catalog, as discussed here.

Unfortunately not: the developer is waiting for a still-in-development 64-bit compiler.

I installed both the 32-bit and 64-bit versions of Bulk Rename to get the context menus to show up in all file managers.

Hope this helps.
