is there a limit on the number of thumbnails cached per folder? i am trying to cache the thumbnails in a folder with 8,080 images. the status message indicates "8,080 thumbs created or updated" but the final thumbnail created is on image #5591 with image #5592 having a white thumbnail with the message "can't handle". all subsequent thumbnails are white with "can't handle" displayed every 45-50 images to the end.
any help would be appreciated.
(windows 7 pro 64-bit, ntfs file system)
update: xyplorer 11.70.0100
update 2: none of the created thumbnails are stored in cache when the "can't handle" situation occurs.

Re: thumbnail caching - "can't handle"
Yes, it's probably too many bytes for the cache. (There is no file count limit).

Re: thumbnail caching - "can't handle"
is it possible to lift the byte limit?

No, I mean I'm not even sure what's causing the problem. That needs to be investigated but currently I have different things on my table.
8,080 images in one folder... hmm, you might use some file manager to get a little order into that folder...

Re: thumbnail caching - "can't handle"
I also have seen odd things with thumbnail drawing... Haven't had time to systematically figure out what causes what, or what effect cache cleaning would have-- so I haven't posted about it.
Briefly: I work with large folders of small PNG files.
-I often see the issue of only the first few dozen thumbs showing (and the rest being blank rectangles). I think they get cached that way or something, because if a refresh, or reopen the folder, the sames ones will be un-drawn.
-If I change between different thumbnail sizes (i.e. #1/#2/#3), the generic windows png icon image will show immediately, while the actual thumbs of the different image files get added (as expected). Oddly though, often the thumb will be smaller than the generic windows icon, and so the edges of the icon will still be present around the edges of the thumb. http://i.imgur.com/ZmyaH.png
-Sometimes the thumbs will have a think black border around the bottom and right edges.
-If I enable "show transparency grid" it works as expected, but if I then disable it, the grid will still be there. The only way to get rid of it is to reinstall XYplorer.
I've tried different Thumbnail View settings but it doesn't seem to matter.

):
Thumbnail caching works fine.
In my file "XYThumbs.txt" 11251 records & folder "Cache\XYplorer" space used ~10Gb
You described a problem I have not seen.
