CopyTo with Tags
Hi there, When moving an item to a new location, current tags are preserved but not when items are copied to a new location. Can copy with tags be done and, if so, what script commands do I need? Cheers.

Re: CopyTo with Tags
No. It is explained in Help under "Labels, Tags, Comments":
Sigh, this question pops so often. I start asking myself whether I should allow it (new setting: Allow copying tags).Copying Items
Copying items, the tags will not be copied along with the items, in an effort to keep your database tidy and avoid multiplying tags which could eventually slow things down. Any previously existing items will keep their original tags.

You should, you should, you should
And after spending the last hour tagging a few hundred files, I discovered that although moving files preserves tags, when I moved them all from a branch view about 99% of the files lost their tags. Now I'll have to start all over again

That would be a bug, but I cannot find such problems here. Can you reproduce the issue, and if yes, describe how to do this?kiwichick wrote:And after spending the last hour tagging a few hundred files, I discovered that although moving files preserves tags, when I moved them all from a branch view about 99% of the files lost their tags. Re: CopyTo with Tags
Added in latest beta release. Thanks admin
In regards to the option Notes in the changelog, maybe there could be another option to:
"Confirm include Tags in copy and backup operations"
Only if it was easily implemented, of course

Re: CopyTo with Tags
Yes!!! The new update is great, admin!!!
But, is it just me or is anyone else finding XY loses focus behind the last focused window (XY or non-XY) when the prompt is used (clicking OK or Cancel)?

Re: CopyTo with Tags
Hi admin, Was the focus issued fixed in the latest beta release v0208? It isn't mentioned in the changelog and I still have this behavior. Cheers.

It's fixed here.
How do you copy? Custom Copy? Backgrounded?

Re: CopyTo with Tags
Hi Don, thanks, I've tried:
Drag'n'Drop to a new tab.
Drag'n'Drop to the Tree.
The standard Ctrl+C, go to another folder, Ctrl+V.
A script I have that copies selected items to a pre-determined folder.
The default XY CopyTo dialog.
They all cause XY to lose focus.
