Two tabs, locked, both with filters, no tree
Create a New tab
Tab is created with the visual filter from the open tab - I thought this had been changed (v5.00.0136 - 15.08.06 11:46 ... New tabs are born unfiltered now (without a Visual Filter)...).
Toggle visual filter off on the new tab
Close the new tab
---------------------------
XYplorer
---------------------------
Run-time error '14':
Out of string space
---------------------------
OK
---------------------------
Now I get the Windows Error asking me to send them the bug report just closing the new tab. I don't think the tab has to be locked either.
In fact sometimes creating a new tab, from a tab with a filter, and then closing the new tab crashes it. Sometimes it works O.K. but the new tab is always created with the filter from the open tab. There appears to be something in the sequence of events. The problem occurs with at least three different ini files (some with tree, some with address bar).
Something else (possibly related).
Open XY with a directory that has been deleted and a filter applied to the tab, "Currently not available" displayed - fine.
Toggle visual filter.
The tab now displays the contents of, in this case, the XYPlorer directory but the tab displays the original (deleted) directory.
Switch to another tab and back - "Currently not available" is displayed (and no filter in the tab header) as it should be.
Hope all this makes sense and I'm not getting too complicated as usual!!

Re: New tab & visual filter errors
Ah yes, this is the one thing that's left to be done. I mentioned that I had to do some deep restructuring to get Quick Visual Filters working, and did not find the time yet to get this last thing finished.Gandolf wrote:... The bug error 14 you mention can only have indirect connection to this, because I have seen it only when adding the new "clipped tips" recently. I guess when you disable "clipped tips" you won't see this bug anymore. Can you confirm this?
I'm currently working on "Delete skipping locked files" -- it's a nightmare but I'll get it done... after that I'll attend this issue here... what a start of a week... <sweat dripping already>

"Show tips for clipped tree and list items" was unchecked.
Tried with it checked, Windows error occurs but I can't get the runtime error again - that seemed to be a "one off". As I said, it also seems to be dependant on the sequence of events.
Since I use ini files a lot, could it be related to a feature that has been added ("clipped tips" for example) which was not in the ini file since it had not been updated for several days?
I didn't mean to start your week badly, I'll try not to find any more problems for you.

Arrrgh, I was talking monday morning rubbish. It's not the clipped tips but the File Info Tips!

No problem. It's your job, and you're doing it very well.Gandolf wrote:I didn't mean to start your week badly, I'll try not to find any more problems for you.

Re: New tab & visual filter errors
Okay, this is fix in progress... I hate it but I cannot continue the work now. At least, the new version just uploaded should tackle some of the issues, hopefully no more crash.Gandolf wrote:Run-time error '14'
Still, when opening new tabs from filtered tabs, something is not correct. I'm aware of it and will fix it later.

Thank you for the compliment.admin wrote:No problem. It's your job, and you're doing it very well.Gandolf wrote:I didn't mean to start your week badly, I'll try not to find any more problems for you.
As j_c_hallgren said in another thread, it's teamwork with you very much the leader and I, for one, certainly enjoy being part of it and helping in my small way.
In that case I'll keep quiet at the moment and just note any oddities until you feel that it is finished.admin wrote:Okay, this is fix in progress...

I can't keep quiet about this.
New tab from a tab with a filter, no filter on the new tab (that's fine) although the list is opened filtered. Switching away from the tab and back to it shows an unfiltered list. However, more serious, the filter is cleared on the tab that the context menu was opened from. Looks like you're opening a real good can of worms!!

I'll just quietly add to the list: when you close the current tab, the tab on its right will have the VF state of the newly current/activated tab.
eg. having T1/T2/T3, being on T2 and closing it, which makes T1 the new current tab, will also put on T3 the VF state of T1 (so either set, unset or change the VF on T3)
