Re: Delay After Subfolder Creation or Rename
Thanks, Don!
What is this:
SHChangeNotify = Yes
I can't find it in the config file.
In testing, I have found that not all folders show the delay in new subfolder creation, but all show the rename delay. Does that tell you anything? Any other ideas?

@Don: I keep forgetting this hidden gem myself. This is useful, could it be made visible in the menu? Like Optimization tips or something?admin wrote:hold CTRL and click Help | Various Information, here you find some places to look at.

Note to others who try this - You must hold CTRL down while clicking on Help AND continue holding CTRL down when selecting Various Information.@Don: I keep forgetting this hidden gem myself. This is useful, could it be made visible in the menu? Like Optimization tips or something?

In case you've not seen the other similar thread that has been resolved (it was due to Windows Defender):Tom wrote:Running Avast Pro V7.0.1466
Not running Security Essentials.
I run a MalwareBytes on-demand scan occasionally.
This started AFTER one of the last 3 or 4 XY updates.

Still spending WAY TOO much time here! But it's such a pleasure helping XY be a treasure!

Thank you, JC, for the link!In case you've not seen the other similar thread that has been resolved (it was due to Windows Defender):

I already have Real-time protection off, automatic scanning off, C:\Program Files (x86)\XYplorer in the "do not scan there files or locations" section.
I tried a clean install of XY and that worked fine. I loaded my config file into the clean install and none of my tabs showed up. Aren't they stored with the config file?
What is this:
SHChangeNotify = Yes
I can't find it in the config file.
Thanks!!
Re: Delay After Subfolder Creation or Rename
That may explain it: you need to exclude the XYplorer.exe and XYcopy.exe-processes rather than the location where they're stored.Tom wrote:I already have Real-time protection off, automatic scanning off, C:\Program Files (x86)\XYplorer in the "do not scan there files or locations" section.

I can only find this reference:Tom wrote:What is this:

Code: Select all
v4.40.0000 - 2005-11-26 19:15
+ Configuration: redesigned the "Auto-refresh on file system changes"
section. Now you can specify in a very detailed way what you want
to be watched and where.
For your interest as a programmer:
- "Watch current path and subtree on: Local drives/Network drives"
uses the FindFirstChangeNotification API.
- "Watch non-current locations: Folders/Removable drives" uses the
SHChangeNotify API.
Tip: if you are using the network a lot you might encounter
dramatic speed differences related to these settings.
Note that auto-refresh concerns exclusively changes triggered
from other processes. If you disable it completely, XYplorer
should still correctly update the display with regard to its own
file operations. I say should... some things might have slipt
through...-

Re: Delay After Subfolder Creation or Rename
I have excluded those two files, as well. The explanation under the real-time protection exclusion indicated that all files and folders under the selected directory would be excluded.nas8e9 wrote:That may explain it: you need to exclude the XYplorer.exe and XYcopy.exe-processes rather than the location where they're stored.
What is the proper way to do a clean install and then reload your existing configuration, tabs, etc?Tabs are stored in the Panes-subfolder of the Application Data Folder.
Thanks you for all the suggestions and help!

Re: Delay After Subfolder Creation or Rename
In case of XY this is a contradiction (because it is not "installed" in the usual sense in registry etc.). Either clean install or previous config. All your config is in the app data folder.Tom wrote:What is the proper way to do a clean install and then reload your existing configuration, tabs, etc?

Re: Delay After Subfolder Creation or Rename
Don,
I'm trying to track down the delay issue. With a clean install, I have no delay. When I add in my tabs, configs, catalogs, etc, I have the delay.
I've been thru the debug thing (CTRL Help/Various Information) to no avail.
Do you have any other suggestions?
Thank you !!
