Delay After Subfolder Creation or Rename
Using V11.60 on Win 7 x64
Recently, when I create or rename a subfolder, there is a 4-5 second delay in XY, where XY is locked and I can do nothing. This has been occurring for the past 3 weeks or so.
I've searched the forum and tried changing the Auto-Refresh settings, to no avail.
Does anyone know why this is happening and how to fix it?
Thanks!

No, I don't see this phenomenon here.

Re: Delay After Subfolder Creation or Rename
And i just posted my problem with xyplorer freezing for about 10 seconds very frequently... you are also on 64-bit, i went from windows 32-bit to 64-bit and the problems showed up right away in 64-bit version of windows...
I wonder if this could be with 64-bit, and we maybe need a real 64-bit version of xyplorer...

Re: Delay After Subfolder Creation or Rename
No, actually it is known that 32-bit apps run faster than 64 bit apps.

Re: Delay After Subfolder Creation or Rename
64-bit requires more memory, didn't know 32-bit apps run faster. That could be true for small programs, but programs that need alot of memory would be much faster.
I expected problems with 64-bit, but there will be always problems with 32-bit and 64-bit untill everything goes to 64-bit. I think there is no perfect way for computer users at this time. Normally if you want less problems you should stay with 32-bit, however, there are more programs that only come out in 64-bit, and when they change to 64-bit, they get problems with 32-bit applications like the right-click menu and other things...
Do you think a 64-bit of xyplorer would not be better to run on a 64-bit system?

We're getting off topic here - I have a delay problem and request ideas on how to solve it.
Thank you!

Re: Delay After Subfolder Creation or Rename
Since when do you get this behavior, days, weeks, months?
What software did you install before you experienced it?
Virus scanner, antimalware, security software of any kind?
Include XYplorer in their exclusion lists, disable them, uninstall them.

Re: Delay After Subfolder Creation or Rename
FYI, I'm running Win7 x64 with XY 11.60.0104 and things are running as smoothly as ever. Every once in a while I get a delay for some reason or other, but it's not a regular issue, nor is it easily repeatable...
So things are working well here! (not that it helps anyone who is seeing delays -- just providing a data point that it's not affecting *all* users of Win7x64)...
Good luck!
andy

btw, i cannot confirm this on my Win7 64-bit.
My AV is Avast:
Re: Delay After Subfolder Creation or Rename
Running Avast Pro V7.0.1466
Not running Security Essentials.
I run a MalwareBytes on-demand scan occasionally.
This started AFTER one of the last 3 or 4 XY updates.

OK, just to be sure, can you reproduce this on a fresh XY install (without your settings)?Tom wrote:Running Avast Pro V7.0.1466

Also, it would be useful to Don if you can zero-in on the exact beta update after which this started to happen.
Re: Delay After Subfolder Creation or Rename
Tried fresh install and saw no delay on neither new subfolder creation nor rename.OK, just to be sure, can you reproduce this on a fresh XY install (without your settings)?
Also, it would be useful to Don if you can zero-in on the exact beta update after which this started to happen.
I will have to do some digging to see which installation caused the problem. If I install older versions, do I risk corrupting my settings?
Thanks

Re: Delay After Subfolder Creation or Rename
If a fresh install shows no delay you need not bother to install older versions. Just play with the configuration. For starters hold CTRL and click Help | Various Information, here you find some places to look at.Tom wrote:Tried fresh install and saw no delay on neither new subfolder creation nor rename.OK, just to be sure, can you reproduce this on a fresh XY install (without your settings)?
