From everything I have read, XY should support Nikon's NEF RAW image format.. however, when I try to view a folder of NEF files, I do not see the images in the thumbnail view. Furthermore, if I try to preview any of the images, I get "cannot decode" error message.
All my NEF images are right out of my Nikon D200. Is there something I am missing?
Can't view NEF in preview mode, or see NEF thumbnails

Re: Can't view NEF in preview mode, or see NEF thumbnails
In case Explorer also does no NEF thumbs you need the codec. See http://www.xyplorer.com/faq-topic.php?id=RAWpreview
BTW, does or did anybody here use SageThumbs 2.0.0.15 (http://code.google.com/p/sagethumbs/)?

Yep', and NEF files are showing perfectly with SageThumbs (thumbnails, previews, MDBU,...).BTW, does or did anybody here use SageThumbs 2.0.0.15
For now, SageThumbs' only problem for me has been with X3F files, which don't render (in Win Explorer too) unless I force SageThumbs to use embedded thumbnails. This tweak works, but in turn may display subpar previews for some other RAW files.
So to sum things up, if you're working with 'conventional' RAW files, you shouldn't get a headache
Have a nice day shooting
