When VF are on...

Post by jacky »

Okay I know there's a thread where the use of Marked Text color for the VF has been discussed somewhere, but i couldn't find it so here we go ;)

What about, also, when a VF is on have the VF icon on the TB being on a "pressed" state. It is also usually a visual aid of weither a function is enabled or not.
Of course it would have to be updated whenever the current tab is changed also, obviously, but unless it slows down everything I thought it could be a nice visual trick too... ?

EDIT: Topic hijack: Another thing regarding the TB: what about a button for the Go to (Ctrl+G) feature?? I know I'd like that ;)

I'd also like it for the "Show Hidden Items" button and some other... But my toolbar has no "pressed" state currently. :) Will do when time.

You don't use the address bar, do you?

No, and I don't intend to. I like to have my XY window with a maximized used of all space avalaible, and the Address Bar, to me, would just be using space for no reason. I have tab headers & window title to know where I am, and the great Go to feature for everything else, and I love it that way :D

(the only way I could see myself using an address bar here would be if we could have it next to the menus... but even there I'm not sure I would actually. I really like using the Go to feature, and if you rewrote the whole interface/menu thinggy I'd probably put the toolbar up there with the menus anyways ;))

Help me, there's currently no layout available, that doesn't show the address bar. So, if it's displayed anyway, why not using it?

You can hide the AB, and have tabs and TB in one row -- voila, saved screen space!

I agree with Jacky. There is a lot of wasted space to the right of the menus. At least for me on a 1280 x 1024 screen. I would love to move the toolbar up there. (And I still would have enough room for the Address bar. (which I also do not use.))

Just a general FYI, this is true for every "part" of all layouts. As in, you can choose whether or not to show the address bar, the toolbar and/or the tabs. If they're visible they'll be shown according to the selected layout, if not the layout is made with what's visible (if any)
