Toggle Active Pane icon(s)

I find it a bit confusing that when pane 1 is active the Toggle Active Pane icon displays as [1]. I think is should show the "current" function. In the above case pressing the button will activate pane #2, so I would like to see the icons as [2]. The same logic applies to pane 2. When pane 2 is active the button should display [1].

Is it possible to change the "Toggle Active Pane" icon(s)?

I know what you mean but it seems most other users are fine with the current way.

I can change the user button icons. Right?
Is it possible for a user to change the XY native button icons?

Also, the "Toggle Active Pane" has two icons. Right?
Is it possible for a user to create a user button with two icons?
