I had never tried it really, cause to me when it comes to file manager, it's Details view only. Not XY related, it's allways been that way
So I started thinking about thumbnails and doing some tests here because I often use "Batch Rename" on pictures. So here's what I noticed:
- First off, it looks pretty damn cool. Thumbs 128x128 suits me fine, having the real size showing is great!
And once cached it's really fast!! Very nice work!- The MDBU is very useful & great there!
Allthough it can be a bit "confusing" at first, when trying to select files for examples. I'd suggest (a) to use the icon used in the Preview tab here aswell, to indicate the MDBU is in effect, and (b) to disable it if possible when holding Ctrl or Shift, as that indicates we're selecting files, so most likely not wanting to preview them - The Full-Screen (right-click) one would be really cool, but looks like you forgot to have it shrink down the pic to fit the screen (like it does when used on the Preview tab), so it kinda useless here
- I set my max area to 30000000 (read 30,000,000) cause i sometimes have incredibly large pictures, and I wanna see their thumbs aswell
But sometimes while a picture with a way smaller area (~12,200,000) will get its thumb and the MDBU will work fine, on the Preview tab I get the "Image too large" message
Means on this one I can't even use the Full Screen view at all :-/- The Full Screen view, when trigger from the Propeties tab, sometimes only show me a black screen, but no picture at all
(from the List it work, but don't shrink the pic, MDBU works just fine)Now, on why I won't use it (yet)
What I _really_ need when working with pictures like this is, be able to select a bunch of files, and re-order them!! If only we could reorder the way items are show on the List (in Thumbs view only, of course) by dragging them around that would be SO cool; and allow to use a Batch Rename and number the pictures in the order we want! Sadly, I found XY to be not so stable when I used it on Thumbs view. Yes, I might go hard on him cause all (almost) the pictures I have are big, but quite often it just disappeared, without any error message or anything... 
Anyways, thats was my thoughts on it. Add that somewhere to your list but keep working first on Catalog Aliases & the new revolutionnary features to come!
