Selection Style Win7

Post by admin »

XY's selections in Tree and List still look like they always did in Windows Explorer until and including XP.

Now the Vista/7 Explorer has a different look (see screenshot). I personally don't like it. It looks pretty but does not work. I find it simply dysfunctional.

But what is your opinion? Do you miss Vista/7's selection style in XYplorer? (Including the idiocy that there is no focus rect anymore?)

by this you mean exactly "there is no focus rect anymore" or something else?
for me it's only pretty looking. i'd be glad to see only it's adaptation(like was done with Translucent selection), but not really 7th selection.

Yes. I'm not sure which control has the focus, nor which of the selected files.

BTW, is there a way to turn off "full row select" in Win7 Explorer?

Hi Don,

usability-wise I don't miss the 7-style (more exact: didn't know that it should behave somewhat differently until now), aesthetically yes.

Cheers,
Filehero

PS: What I really miss is time ....

Yeah, we two like it. The rest is silence. The Good, the Bad, and the Indifferent. :)

The effect is really nice, however I still see the focus rect.
Tried on a fresh beta install, no configuration changes at all, 7 x64.
To reproduce:
1. select an item in the List;
2. click on a white space in the List.
The focus rect should appear.

Yes, I deliberately kept it at non-selected items else you have no clue where the focus is.

To use XY's highlight feature you have to use XYplorer classic theme. Same rule applies to config>Tabs>Visual style.
@Don: Maybe grey out/disable items in colors & styles if user chooses windows themes for Selections and Tabs>Visual style.
