Was unable to start XY due to a bug, had to re-install, lost all custom settings.
Trying to re-enable zebra striping.
When I do so I get the message "Requires Show Grid enabled in the file list." That's nice, but just where do I set this? (And why the hell doesn't the software just make this change for me?)
Please help me re-enable zebra striping

Re: Please help me re-enable zebra striping
Menu - Tools - Customize List - Show Grid
You still get the message after (re)activating the option for zebra striping but it works perfectly.

Re: Please help me re-enable zebra striping
Just what is "show grid" anyway? Curious, I tried turning it on, and the display did not look any different. I searched the Help, and it's not in the index, and the "search" turned up the Tools menu where I was interested, but it just said Grid is one of the choices, and applies to the current tab, but it didn't explain what it was!

Bumping this thread because I lost 20 minutes to figure out that setting under Tools (tools, really ?)
Also, it's weird that the default grid color is the same as the normal color, I had to change it to be visible.

Another question regarding zebra striping:
I have lots of stored tabsets. It appears that zebra striping is switched off after loading a tabset. Is this a feature, a bug, or my incompetence?
I would prefer it would stay on, irrespective of further actions with tabsets.

No, "zebra striping" is a global setting and is not changed by loading tabset.Borut wrote:Another question regarding zebra striping:

"Show Grid", however, is part of the list customizations which are stored with the tabset in file "pane.ini", but are applied on loading a tabset only IF Configuration | Advanced | Remember list settings per tab is ticked (otherwise the current list customization is kept).

Re: Please help me re-enable zebra striping
Oh, yes, thank you!! I have now unchecked the "Apply to list style" item under "Configuration | Advanced | Miscellaneous | Remember list settings per tab" and zebras now appear always, i.e. as wished/expected. Sorry for not finding this myself.admin wrote:"Show Grid", however, is part of the list customizations which are stored with the tabset in file "pane.ini", but are applied on loading a tabset only IF Configuration | Advanced | Remember list settings per tab is ticked (otherwise the current list customization is kept).

Yes, it appears complex when viewed from above. But I think it mirrors various realistic workflows and user needs. Complexity is the natural price for configurability.grindax wrote:I myself have been confused on a number of occasions about which settings are global, which are tab-specific, which get overridden by loading a tab set, which rely on other options being set first, which get saved when saving general options, which get saved inside the actual tabset, etc.
