Limit Tabs to 5 most recent only?
Limit Tabs to 5 most recent only?
Is there a way to limit the number of Tabs showing to the 5 or 10 most recent?
Yes I would like to have only, say, 5 Tabs maximum showing. If I look at a 6th directory I would like the the 1st Tab, which would be on the right hand side, to be auto closed and the 6th new Tab to beentered on the left hand sidesurrender wrote:Do you mean you need not more than 5 recent tabs?? Which means you want the 1st tab to be auto-closed if you happen to open a 6th tab. All I would say is dont lock your tabs and dont use middle, ctrl or shift click.
My tabs are not locked and I don't use the click middle, ctrl or shift click.
I would like to be able to set the maximum number of Tabs shown to be a specific number N. With the oldest tab on the left auto closed when a new tab is entered on the right.
Should I enter this request in the "Wish" section?

So you create new tabs by Ctrl+T. To close a tab use Ctrl+L or the context menu. To keep the number of tabs at some limit simply do not Ctrl+T anymore but overwrite the tab you don't use.mqsymth wrote:...My tabs are not locked and I don't use the click middle, ctrl or shift click.

Automatic closing of tabs: nope, sorry.
I have v 5.10.0015. Without using Ctrl T or L or anything else I have 11 tabs at the top. Some of them are the same. The tabs stay there whether or not I close XYPlorer or whether I reboot the computer and start XYPlorer again. I only have one locked Tab which is always on the left hand side of the screen.admin wrote: So you create new tabs by Ctrl+T. To close a tab use Ctrl+L or the context menu. Is this normal? Do the Tabs keep growing to they reach a maximum number?
What am I missing?
Don't know about how they got there (usually using the shortcuts mentionned, or middle-click, or holding Shift or Ctrl while enterring a folder/click a Catalog item, etc or clicking somewhere on the tree whil ebeing on a locked tab) but it is normal they don't go away.
If you want to close them, right-click on a tabs header and choose "Close Tab". If you only want to keep one opened, use "Close All Other Tabs"

Yes, normal. It's the nature of the locked tab to lead to the creation of new tabs ifmqsymth wrote:I only have one locked Tab which is always on the left hand side of the screen.

(a) you go to a new location (by one of the many methods you can do this in XY) when on the locked tab;
(b) a tab with this location does not exist currently (else this tab would be selected).
There is no maximum number.
There has been the suggestion to define one default tab that is used for all these deviations (?) from any locked tab. This would reduce the number of tabs being auto-created (aka the tab-gun effect) to one.
To whom it may concern: currently there are about 20 super-important highly-original radically-revolutionary ideas on my hot-hot-hot-list... but as the world appears to be constructed I will have to do them one after the other... so we all need a little bit of patience while watching XY raising to become the UTU (ultimate tool of the universe)!
