Open new tabs in specific pane

Hi,

I recently bought XYporer pro and generally I think it is a good app. There is one thing though that I wish to be able to do and I am not sure if it is possible to do so with the current functionality.

So I have a 2-pane layout with horizontal panes and a mini-tree.

So my XYplorer looks like:

In the upper pane I only have 9-10 locked tabs from standard locations that I frequently open.

• Whenever I open a folder from within a locked tab the new tab opens in the same pane.
• Whenever I open a folder from the OS it opens in a new tab in the active pane.

The result is that the upper pane will end up filled in with various other misc tabs (that resulted from the operations described above). The same applies for the lower pane( but this pane is my misc-tabs kind of workspace so it's ok).

What I would like is ideally to keep all the locked tabs in one 'static' pane. To do that a feature/option like 'Open new tabs in pane 1|2 only' would suffice. But I don't think I can locate such an option.

Is is possible to have this functionality under the existing code base?

Would work but I guess it is incomplete as:

1. Its not as a efficient as a simple double-click
2. Does not address the scenario of serving an external request (eg. windows explorer pushes a new tab in XYplorer)

Tip: Declare one unlocked tab as "default tab". Now all folders will be opened in that "throw away" tab.

As someone who has never used the Default Tab feature, what is the interaction between it, panes, and tabsets? Is there only 1 default tab, 1 per pane, 1 per tabset?


A couple other possible solutions that might be worth exploring in the future:

1. Allow defining of maximum number of tabs per pane.
2. Ability to Lock a Pane or Tabset - I envision this as just an obstacle or roadblock to creating/deleting tabs in a pane.

Thank you all for taking the time to answer my topic.

So from what I understand the functionality is not quite implemented.

Essentially I am looking for a chrome-style tab behaviour.

1. I would like *all* tabs (irrespective of what[explorer|Xyplorer] is causing them to open) that are to be opened to go in the lower pane.
2. I would also like all tabs to be opened in new tabs (already supported and a topic in this portal explains how to do this)

The default tab will ensure that all new tabs will be opened in the correct pane. But on the other hand they will all end-up in the same tab. I would like to avoid that if I can as I have noticed that in numerous cases I do not want to overwrite the existing tab.

So I guess this feature will stay in my wishlist
