configure mouse buttons and saved pane/tab bug?

Post by Eep² »

I want to use the middle mouse button to do something (copy the base name of a selection) but I don't see a way to configure the mouse buttons beyond the extended configuration section (where it can only open a folder in a new tab or go to a file in a new tab). Is there a way to override the middle mouse button to do other things besides only these 2 things? If not, how about adding that capability?

Also, I had XYplorer open for a while (days) and when I clicked the "jump to setting" button in the configuration window, I heard my system default beep and then XYplorer closed completely. When I restarted the app, my tabs and saved searches from that immediate previous session were not saved (just 1 tab in 2 panes of an older session). How often does XYplorer save the panes and tabs and searches? If it only saves them when the app is closed, this should be changed so in case of a crash the previous session is remembered sooner.

I believe this capability is part of the planned Custom Event Actions-functionality. As always with the roadmap, there are no guarantees when (or indeed if) it will turn up.

XYplorer will only, if Configuration > Startup & Exit > Save settings on exit, is enabled, save if XYplorer is exited normally. In case of a crash, you lose that info unless you manually saved settings through File > Settings, beforehand.

Regarding this crash, could you:
1. post information about your XYplorer and Windows version;
2. try the latest beta from here;
3. try to reproduce the crash with the latest beta and a clean profile as described here?

The problem with that approach (and it has been discussed quite a bit before) is that most folks here don't want XY to do any auto-save and prefer to have total control of when it occurs so I don't foresee any scheduled saving in the future.
Still spending WAY TOO much time here! But it's such a pleasure helping XY be a treasure!
(XP on laptop with touchpad and thus NO mouse!) Using latest beta vers when possible.
