Context menu items missing [Revo Uninstaller]
Context menu items missing [Revo Uninstaller]
I notice that some items, available on the context (right-click) menu in regular Windows Explorer 7 (x64), are not available in XYplorer. For example, the application Revo Uninstaller adds an item to install using Revo Uninstaller; this item appears whenever a .exe is selected. But in XYplorer, this item does not appear, so I am forced to use another application to install software using Revo.
Are context menu items such as this configurable? (How?)
If not, then would it be possible to address this in some way?

Re: Context menu items missing [Revo Uninstaller]
If a 64bit software doesn't install it's 32bit shell extension (if it has one^^) you won't see it in XYplorer.
No way to change that atm (apart from the possibility to reconstruct those entries with the help of e.g.
fastexplorer). But this has been discussed a couple of times...

@VLM: Hi and welcome,
As highend says, it's a FAQ. In general, it's appreciated to check the help file, the website and the forum before posting.

Thank you both. I've written off to the developer of Revo, requesting a minor update that incorporates a 32-bit shell extension.
I was unaware that XYplorer was running as a 32-bit application. For a Windows Explorer replacement, that thought did not occur to me. So thanks to you both for clearing that up.

You can as well use PFA (Portable File Associations) to add the missing entries manually, and the show them in the shell context menu by ticking Configuration | Extended | Custom items in shell context menu and adding Open With... via the File List... button.

Re: Context menu items missing [Revo Uninstaller]
I am testing the program as 30 day trial and having a similar problem, but the FAQ on the issue does not apply. I am using 32 bit Win 7 and I have an issue with no entry in the context menu for the file comparison program Beyond Compare. Adding it to the "Open with" is not very helpful because what appears is context sensitive. If I have selected 1 file and right click it will offer to use that as the left comparison. Once selected you can go back and look elsewhere for a second file at which point it will ask whether to replace with earlier one with this one OR compare the new one to the previous one. Trying to select 2 files in different parts of the file system and then using "open with" is not really a workable answer.

Re: Context menu items missing [Revo Uninstaller]
I took a look and it is NOT checked, so that isn't the problem.
Also that tip might be added to the FAQ for shell extensions not appearing.
However, I tried the program (XYplorer trial) on an older machine running XP Pro and it works fine.
So the problem seem to be related to being run in Win 7.

Yes, WinRAR does, and a program called Bulk Rename.

Weird. I don't think I ever had that situation. Cannot explain.

Thanks for your time.
I may try ShellExtView to see if I can troubleshoot it.
It's not a dealbreaker as I prefer XP anyway w/o all the extra clutter of libraries, smoke and mirrors, etc, and without the aggravation of UAC interfering with my programs.

Re: Context menu items missing [Revo Uninstaller]
Hello considering!
I am a heavy user of BeyondCompare myself. However, since I am also very fond of portable applications, I am preferring a portable BeyondCompare installation, too. Thus I am consciously waving away its shell extension support (which was nice, yes, but I never used it extensively). Since I have BeyondCompare running all the time
I am now used to do the following:
