Move/Copy/Backup To dialogue

Post by JohnM »

I really like this feature and I have been using it a lot. I have a couple of wishes (of course):

Wish 1: When I click on the ellipsis button to browse to a new folder, the starting folder in the folder requester is always “My Computer”. Can this be changed to the folder that is selected in the dialogue if it exists? I frequently want to move files to the same or *similar* place and this would be a time saver (and also I’m lazy :)).

Wish 2: I think that it would be neat if XY had the capability to create/modify folders on the fly within this dialogue (or within the folder requester dialogue behind the elipsis button). Currently, if I find that a particular folder that I want to put a file in doesn’t exist (or has an incorrect name, or something) I have to cancel the dialogue, navigate to the folder, make any changes and then redo the Move/Copy/Backup to. Like I said before, I’m lazy. :)

If these things can already be done then I would appreciate it if someone could enlighten me :). If not, what do others think?

Cheers

Have you seen the menu "Favourite Folders" there, which lists all your favourite folders as targets, or use List Management to create an independent list of target folders for these operations

In the ctx menu you can move/copy to new subfolder but you're right there's nothing similar in the dialogue

Code: Select all

    * Where appropriate the "Browse For Folder" dialog now comes with a
      preselected folder.
Quick suggestion: make a preselection on Excluded Folders aswell, using the selected folder on list

Yes I have but they weren't doing exactly what I wanted because I didn't want to have lots and lots of favourites. I have have too many as it is. It's always so hard to choose :)
