Could you please add an option in the preferences for removing the dot and file type when creating a shortcut.
This would be particularly useful for EXE files for which it is obvious they are executables. It is superfluous in a shortcut.
Example:
Creating a shortcut for notepad.exe would produce notepad.lnk and not notepad.exe.lnk
Thanks!
Shortcut name -> get rid of the .exe

I like the XY's way of making shorcut because it tells you more than simply .lnk. But you are right it can also be annoying and is not consistent in the following two cases.
1) simple right-click context menu creates notepad.lnk (shell context). 2) while XY's shortcut method (right-click D&D) creates notepad.exe.lnk.

Well, I'd say this "inconsistency" is actually choice! Use the shell's command to drop the extensions, use XY's to keep them.surrender wrote:I like the XY's way of making shorcut because it tells you more than simply .lnk.
