Running the latest beta, .0106, but happened to notice the "Jump to Setting change a few back, at the top of the beta thread page 151. The original "Jump to" write up (.0100) says, " "Jump to Setting..." (F3). Shows an alphabetically ordered list of all settings available in the Configuration dialog, along with a live filter box. Here F3 shows a search result that mirrors what shows in the existing panel." Sounds great, but here when I hit F3, it brings up Search results, as in the screenshot. And while the Total figure at the bottom showing at the bottom is complete, before it got there it ran and grew continually for quite awhile long after the column to the right showed "scan done in xx seconds.." Not sure what to make of it all. Any ideas? Thanks.

Re: Jump to Setting (F3)
You have to be in the Config dialogs for that F3 to work as a Jump To Setting...it never said that it was F3 when NOT within Config because that's redo last search.highstream wrote:Running the latest beta, .0106, but happened to notice the "Jump to Setting change a few back, at the top of the beta thread page 151. Still spending WAY TOO much time here! But it's such a pleasure helping XY be a treasure!

Thanks. The phrasing could be read either way. I'd love it if it worked the way I read it.

"Shows an alphabetically ordered list of all settings available in the Configuration dialog"
For someone like me who never uses F3 for search - didn't even know it - I look at the write up and think there's nothing that says you have to be within Config to use it. There are probably thousands of apps that use keystrokes that bypass a level or two (or more) of menu options. No big deal. I'd just add that there are a multitude of options in XYplorer, keystroked and not, far too many for most users to remember; i.e., only certain kinds of minds can do so - and all power to them (I'm envious).

Re: Jump to Setting (F3)
i don't know which app started it, but F3 was a "Search Next"-key since old times. most of programs follow this standard. though of course if using this seldom, one can know it not.

The more common, closer at hand - and older? - one I use in most apps is Ctrl-F.

Re: Jump to Setting (F3)
I'll have to admit that when I first glanced at the release note, I was wondering how that could work as i knew F3 as repeat/redo last search but then I read it closer and saw that it was within Config heading.

Re: Jump to Setting (F3)
Sad to say: when I read it the first time, I also pressed F3 and got to Search Results
OK: I thought I must have misunderstood something, re-read, and
Seems to be dependent from the mood you're in when reading it the first time
