Folks,
Sometimes when I search, I type my search term(s) into the "Name:" box, press <Enter> and the search starts. Other times, when I type my terms and press <Enter>, nothing happens and I must press the "Find Now" button to start the search.
Does anyone know why? What circumstances cause the <Enter> action to not function?

Can you reproduce with a fresh install?
Anyway, maybe you overlook some of the checkboxes in the Info Panel...

Could you have pressed tab without noticing ? Or a mouse click ?
Next time you could try and see if the "Name:" box has focus when you press enter and it doesn't work (try and find the blinking cursor).

Re: initiating "Find Files"?
A little more information:
<Enter> works when I simply click the cursor into the "Name:" box, type my search term, and press <Enter>.
<Enter> doesn't work when I leave the cursor in the "Name:" box, switch to a different application, return to XY, and type a different search term without clicking my mouse in the "Name:" box. Then, when I hit <Enter>, nothing happens, even though the cursor is in the "Name:" box and my search term enters normally.
This isn't something I care about enough to issue a bug report, just a quirk I seek to better understand.

Re: initiating "Find Files"?
Can't reproduce it here, works every time when I press enter even if I switch to another application.
Do you have any shell-extension installed that handles application switching ?
Or maybe a 'snap cursor to button' or some other kind that might affect the focused item in XYplorer ?
It seems extremely weird that you type after returning to XYplorer (which should return the focus to the text box) and still it doesn't work when you press enter.
