Oh you knew it allright ;-)

Code: Select all

+ Find Files: added pattern switches! They can optionally be
appended to the search pattern in the name field and have the
      general format "blank-slash-letter(s)", e.g. " /r".
Currently there is just one switch implemented:
        /r recurse subfolders
        / do not recurse subfolders
This switch overwrites the settings of the Include Subfolders
checkbox. The advantage is obvious: this setting can now be part
of the MRU (most recently used) list of the Name field.
Another advantage: you can now directly control recursion in Name
Searches triggered via Address Bar or Catalog (see below).
    * Catalog: now Name Searches are supported. For instance, add this
to the Data field of a Catalog item:
        Desktop?:*.txt or *.bmp /
Now each time you click this item, your Desktop folder is searched
for TXT and BMP files; subfolders are not recursed.
Actually this has been working already for some time, but now
those items are recognizable by the find icon.
This is all pretty cool! :D

And I'm sure you already have this planned, and/or knew it was coming, but...

..how about a way to use Templates ?? Because right now we can already choose location, name, regexp/boolean mode, inc. subfolders... so logically next step is a " /T=template_name" to load thoose settings first.
Then, Catalog item would have a real one-click search operation (already doable, but only as a tab. Meaning gotta have this tab openned all the time...)

And all this of course lead to, about a way for a search Catalog item to prompt user? (eg: with <, like "D:\?< /rT=mytemplate") So we click on the Catalog item, we're prompt for a pattern and then it starts a search for this pattern in D:\ having loaded settings from mytemplate !! 8)

Yes, I have promised this already in the planning phase of the catalog and it will come. Step by step... I don't want to lose contact to the masses out there. Got to take them with me... revolution must go slowly to succeed... pole pole (as they say in east africa AFAIK). XYplorer is obviously heading for dominance in file management, and its evolutionary speed ain't too slow already. Have confidence and a little patience.

Actually, if search templates can be used from within the "pattern" this could almost/pretty much be done using Ctrl+G ;) :D

Indeed! And since you don't have to state the location (e.g. "?*.bmp" in Ctrl+G will search BMPs in the current folder), Ctrl+G could become a handy store for all kinds of searches...
