Due to complex circumstances that are not relevant, have recently added the toolbar button Wipe next to Nuke. When using this (new to me) function to Wipe files frequently a dialog box pops up saying, "Reset file dates failed on this file...Error: the process cannot access the file because it is being used by another process. Click OK to continue with the remaining X files".
The thing is the files do get Wiped after that but a zero length text file is created with a name of seemingly ten random digits.
If someone could explain this behavior and how to avoid it I'd be pleased to receive some enlightenment.
Using 10.90 on XP Home SP3.

Re: Trouble using Wipe
I cannot reproduce a situation where a file being used by another process only fails at that stage of wiping and not earlier.
Anyway, it it happens on your system, how should XY react then? Ignoring this (minor) problem and delete the file anyway? Give you a choice on this?

Will continue to use Wipe for several additional days and gather more data.
At the end of that time will have a more concrete opinion as to how to handle the situation.
It is vexing to run into problems with what was to be a critical function. So it goes ...
