That would be nice, especially for those of us with 1024x768+ resolutions (most people, in other words).
Wikis are the future. Make things easier for yourself! The problem is that the current help would have to be imported into the wiki, a time-consuming job I don't think anyone can be bothered to do :padmin wrote:Cool idea! I won't stop youj_c_hallgren wrote:...maybe we could have a wiki setup and create some decent docs as a group...just as there are many aftermarket books on how to use software/OS...I think those of use who are more fluent in English would be able to aid in the process...![]()
There was already the idea of a user-supported did-you-know/tip-of-the-day interface, but a web-based wiki is much cooler!
test everything. hold on to the good.
1) My wish is definitely for the ability to have two or more panes with different folders. Two would be enough, especially if the panes were "inside the tabs, so that I could have more than one set active, switching between them by switching tabs.admin wrote:Please don't post any wish that happens to cross your mind in this pollj_c_hallgren wrote:Here's another wish that I now see might make sense...![]()
Let me repeat the initial questions:
(1) What single feature do you miss most in XYplorer?
(2) What single feature do you think others miss most in XYplorer?

XY wiki
Yep!Chris Wood wrote:Wikis are the future.
Here's where you get a free wiki: http://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/MediaWiki
Unfortunately I have no time for it, too busy with the software and the forum. Who wants to set up a wiki for XY and earn a free license?

Yes, absolutely. Before I can do this, I have to redesign the Conf window: the tab interface ain't cutting it anymore. I will do a category tree on the left by which you can select the various configuration sections...CyGho wrote:I realy would like to have all the ini file tweaks in the Configuration interfaceI see no purpose to have them only in the ini file.

I personally find the tab interface style a bit easier to work with than the tree style...so having more tabs and/or a larger tab panel isn't an option?admin wrote: I have to redesign the Conf window: the tab interface ain't cutting it anymore. And there are some options that, I presume, may relate functionally to each other but may be in separate INI sections...how would that be handled in a tree setup?
Still spending WAY TOO much time here! But it's such a pleasure helping XY be a treasure!

Customizable keyboard shortcuts, perhaps similar to the intuitive way programs like Emurasoft's EmEditor and EmFTP Pro, or the way NewsGator's FeedDemon does it, which also allows you to copy or print your shortcuts (hotkeys). An import/export or the ability to include this in the saved configuration would be great.
(2) What single feature do you think others miss most in XYplorer?
Perhaps the ability to create a shortcut to a file or folder using ALT+drag-n-drop.

Frankly, there's a lot of more thrilling stuff to roll down the Rhine before any of these will happen...legion1978 wrote:mmm what about support for compressed files? still in to-do list? or simply will never happen.
