Toolbar functions

Post by Slowfox »

I just started using XYplorer and I could not find the answers to the following questions:

1. Can I create a toolbar function to display file properties (equivalent to right click/Properties) ? How?
2. Can I create a toolbar function to move item(s) to the opposite pane? How?
3. Can I create a toolbar function to copy item(s) to the opposite pane? How?

Thanks.

Hi and Welcome!
I'll start with 2 and 3 first. Right-click on Toolbar > Customize Toolbar, look for two buttons "Move to other pane" and "Copy to other pane" and add it.
To create "Display File properties" button:
1) Create user button: Right-click on Toolbar > Customize Toolbar and look for user buttons towards the end and add ffor example User button #1 and OK.
2) You'll see the button on your toolbar now.
3) Right-click>edit and enter #173 in the On click field. Choose any name and icon.

Hi and welcome to the XY forums!

I think most XY users would use the Properties tab of the Info Panel (via F12 or blue boxy icon at right end to show it) instead...it doesn't fully match all possible options available via right-click/Prop (like on PDF's, there is an aux tab) but should give what you need.
Still spending WAY TOO much time here! But it's such a pleasure helping XY be a treasure!
(XP on laptop with touchpad and thus NO mouse!) Using latest beta vers when possible.

I missed the move/copy to other pane in the customize list. That was easy.

However, the Properties option is not so straight forward. I want the function available via right-click/Prop.

serendipity, your suggestion did not work for me.

I followed the instructions, but when I try to use it I get a "Stepping through a Script" pop-up.
- It looks like a scripting error.
- Where did you get this number (#173), and what does it mean?

Please post a screenshot of your button configuration.

Menu Tools - Customize Keyboard Shortcuts...
Options - Copy Cheat Sheet - Include Command IDs (mark it)
Options - Copy Cheat Sheet - Use an entry with "Description"

Paste it into a notepad window and search for the #173.

Result:
Alt+Enter File / Properties #173 Show Shell Properties of selected Tree, List, or Catalog item. Tree, List; on KeyDown

Note that in v10.80.0201 a factory button for this has been added.

OK. I see where #173 comes from.

What is the full text that I have to enter into the "script"?

Do I have to know the "script" language to program a function?

How do I get v10.80.0201? When will it be available to download?

just watch http://www.xyplorer.com/xyfc/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=4 for details...however...if you happen to be a GOTD licensee, this update is not available to you under that...I say that based on fact you joined forum on day that happened.

Wait, if you want right-click | properties its already there. Did you not ask for a toolbar button originally?

Before I answer this, let me ask: did you get your license via GAOTD?
