Tree question and active panes

I am a new user. I have used several third party replacement file mangers over the years. I must say I find yours the best. However, there is one feature I really liked about most all the others. When the app was in dual pane mode, each pane included its own tree. The advantage is you could quickly drill down in each tree without losing focus of the tree as you changed focus of the panes. Perhaps there is a feature or button which will allow this as the default? I have lightly read through the pdf manual and explored the various button/menus, but I cannot locate such a feature.

I would appreciate any assistance anyone could offer. Thanks... Paul...

Thanks for confirming what I suspected. No doubt the app is very creative with regard to file operations. The app provides much efficiency regarding operations. However, the lack of dedicated trees negates much of that efficiency. The lack of the dual tree feature places one at a disadvantage if you are doing several operations whose folders are located in different parts of your computer. Most power users have very involved computer layouts. My screen is 32" HD and my tree often will not fit on the screen, making it difficult to drill back and forth between panes.

Oh well, I do like the app, but discovering this lack of tree flexibility will mean I will need to keep looking for alternatives.

Sorry but I don't get why it's a disadvantage...when you've used the tree to establish what folders you have on various tabs/panes, it's really then not needed as you're just swapping tabs/panes and the tree adapts to the current view....now with tabsets, you can have various configs ready to go...I've used a dual tree FM for a bit in the past and don't really miss it.

I think one alternative may be to examine how you work and see if there could be ways to improve on it using XY's other features....some people here never even have the tree showing and get by just fine.

Hi Paul,

Welcome to the XY forums!

One thing that might work for you is the Mini Tree -- you could essentially have two portions of the tree open -- one for each pane. I also really wanted dual tree, but until that arrives, the Mini Tree works very well for me. I recommend that you try it and see what you think...
