A wish and a question

Post by surrender »

Wish= can you please loop the last item in the list and the first item. i mean when i press down arrow after last item it should go to first item.

Question= How do i change the config so that i can see what i am pasting? i.e. after copy pasting i want the pasted items to be shown or selected.

Fellow user asks: Why should it loop around? Most other products/services don't do this...to me, it seems inconsistent with "normal" operation.
Still spending WAY TOO much time here! But it's such a pleasure helping XY be a treasure!

Same here! This would be a newbie-shocker.

hmm that's a "weird" request I think, I mean I agree with j_c_hallgren it seems very "unnatural" to me, and I dont think no other soft does that (file managers or not, lists usually don't "loop"). Could even be confusing I think, like your on the first item but want to be sure, so you press Up. And suddently you're on the bottom of your list!

That's actually something I thought of asking already ;) Would really be nice if, after a paste (copy/move) the "new" files could be selected. Especially since they List is resorted automatically.

Re: looping -> I know that IrFanView will, when you get to last/first file in folder, promt you if you want to loop or not, but that's a different situation...in that one is previewing pix so operations are quite limited compared to XY.

Yes, I wanted to do this since long, but had some difficulties with it. Today I found the solution, and voila: you got Paste-On-Select! :D
As a side-effect, the refreshing of the list after a paste job will be immediate (without the usual auto-refresh delay) -- hope you don't mind

Thanks j_c_hallgren for hinting on irfanview. i found out what was wrong with me or my question. The other day I was going through my photos in full screen mode and it was annoying to go back to the first pic and therefore my wish was wrongly addressed at list items and not full screen preview items. But i just discovered that i can use home and end to navigate in full screen preview mode too. So i call it a think-before-you-act wish?? sorry for that.

And Thanks Don for the select feature. Something i am looking forward to.
