Multiple Toolbars and Items Grouping

all these reminds me a situation happen to me few days ago. i came to friend who just recently tried Opera, and show him few sites of interest. then i proposed him to save sites to his bookmarks, and was kinda shocked: didn't know if to laugh or cry.. laugh -'cause i found that my friend don't understand what Bookmarks is and considers Speed-dial as that cry -'cause he had about 200+ speed-dials
as for limitations, number of toolbars and that screen(by the way thanks for that- i was really amused and yet, now i know i was right in my guessing ) - file manager is not a shell-replacement(just IMO, of course). and i don't get why really having all the progs on a toolbar(of course it's just me and mine "not understanding" ) -files anyways are opened with them, and if choice needed there is PFA.
i agree with TheQwerty(nice words there you quoted!), and don't think Don rules development according to his only desires. in fact he's most-user-listening developer i observe, and he always does things in his way.

Well, I have hundreds of applications installed on my system- you don't see me having all of them on the toolbars. All the buttons I have are relevant to file management, quick file preview and editing in several applications. I'm not keeping shortcuts to games or files, I'm not even keeping shortcuts of any of the displayed applications, they are either user commands which open/process selected files with a specific application or complex scripts (mainly AutoIt scripts) avieveing various tasks in relation to a specific application.

I have the screen size and space, why would I not make use of it. If I were to have nothing but a 15" 800x600 display, I would've probably reconsidered the number of visible buttons and such, but it happens that I have 3x29" screens each @1920x1200. So yeah, the interface of my main file manager may seem crowded to you, but to me it's just a small window compared to the available space, and it's acceptable even on a single screen at high resolution.

The number of buttons and toolbars has no impact over the manager's performance- moving the window around doesn't hinder its rendering. There's really no reasonable argument when it comes to willingly limiting the number of toolbars as long as they can be selectively enabled/disabled.

i have hundreds of applications too and same using different apps for one file type -that's why i mentioned 'bout PFA. still i see what you mean - with such monitor space(spaces ) it's all yours to fill by desire.
me may be wrong, but i think limitations connected with XY "structure". i'm using it not so long(about a year or so), and got a feeling that XY is not one of those programs where you can dig in interface and turn it upside down by wish(like in Opera). but it seems to me not a limitation -more like solid development style. by the way(once more just a guessing), it may be that "toolbars has no impact over the manager's performance" exactly be course of those limitations
