Find files>Date bug or not

Post by surrender »

This might be normal behavior, but it looked like a bug to me.

When i go to Find files>Date and use the orange pull down menu and use 'More than a year ago' the 'Not' box gets checked automatically and the 'created' text turns red. Is it supposed to mean something??

Well, items in the list turn red cause the Not is checked, it's a visual indicator. ;)

And it's normal yeah, since when you choose "More than a year ago" it sets to "not between {1 year ago} and {now}"

Oh I see, I should have thought about it a little more. I get it now, it puts 'Not' because I am looking for files which are more than a year ago and XY simply doesnt look for files created between this time last year and now, SMART. Forgive this fly-brained guy.

But to be frank, the lower two options viz. 'between' and 'and/add' kind of confused me. I expected something like 'from' and 'to'. When you leave 'to' empty it means till the latest possible time and if you leave 'from' empty it means infinite time in history.

Another suggestion (which might be stupid) is to have pop-up calendar (like in flight booking pages) for 'from' and 'to'. Atleast to me calendars are easy to work with than relative time-scales like a week ago or a month.

Read that tab like a sentence "[Not] [created] between ... and ..." is better than "[Not] [created] from ... to ..."
