In Windows when a file or folder is in use, and you try to rename it warns and
automatically corrects the name to what it was before when you hit "Cancel"
instead of "Try again". In XYPlorer it simply even after I hit "Cancel" it doesn't
correct it. Of course hitting Escape restores but it shouldn't need it.
By the way XYPlorer is great in many respects
Rename of files/folders doesn't work when in use

This is one of your ideas that I might agree with but I really disagree with the misleading thread title!gtm wrote: Of course hitting Escape restores but it shouldn't need it.
A more proper title would be "Rename doesn't auto reset to current when in use" or similar.
Still spending WAY TOO much time here! But it's such a pleasure helping XY be a treasure!

I tested this and the work flow didn't seem weird to me; only after rereading the opening post did it struck me he's right.j_c_hallgren wrote:This is one of your ideas that I might agree with but I really disagree with the misleading thread title!gtm wrote: Of course hitting Escape restores but it shouldn't need it.![]()

The work flow does differ from Windows Explorer and it is an additional step *if* the user doesn't want to close the app that has the file opened. Not sure on this one.
