Icons for scripts in the catalog / CFA?

Post by highend »

Hi,

is there a way to assign different icons to scripts in any of the two places? I'd like to get rid of the "blue right arrow" icon and replace it with something more meaningful ;)

Currently no way, but planned for catalog, and why not add it to PFA as well? :)

No feedback on this? IMO these are pretty cool additions... I would at least like to know of they work. :)

Only played with it briefly but some suggestions for the Catalog version:
  1. Changing a Catalog item's properties should automatically refresh that item's icon cache.
  2. I'm not 100% sure but I think I'd prefer the "Open With" overlays be removed when I've defined my own icons.
  3. EDIT 1: Why only file specs? I cannot use a drive icon, my computer, or a folder icon without looking up the contents of desktop.ini/autorun.inf.

Very cool. It works on my system. It even works with relative paths (Data\Icons\.....) so that I can keep it completely portable. Nice!

I originally thought this would also change the icons in a list, say if I change what icon *.zip would show so it could override what I currently have, but I think I read from another post that might not be easy to do.

Still, nice little feature. Thanks!

Hi,
I am sure I am doing something obviously wrong but I can't get custom icons for catalog based scripts to work. Attached is a screenshot showing the properties of the catalog item.

Image

The icon file is at the path:

C:\Users\ihall\AppData\Roaming\XYplorer\Icons\Folder_-_Downloads.ico

Any help would be appreciated. I am using Win 7 Professional 32-bit and XYPlorer v10.10.0004 with Lifetime License Pro.

Thanks,

Ian.

Try removing the quotes around the entire caption and then after applying it use menu item View -> Caches -> Refresh Catalog Icons

I tried it without quotes and it worked. Hopefully it works for IanH as well.

It also works for apps or other things in the catalog as well, which is pretty nice, not just scripts. Time to update my "blank windows command prompt" icon for some of my shortcuts!

1. Yep, fixed.
2. IMO it's ok as it is.

Here, the overlay seems to make things incredibly crowded and visually distracting:

To be honest, I've never needed them or for that matter knew they differed based on the Open With method. *shrugs*
