Caching thumbs

Post by surrender »

I just cached thumbs for some 3000 odd photos i had and it took quite some time but thats fine. Now, when i do a search in the same folders which i just cached, it starts to cache thumbs again. Maybe i am missing something, but can anyone tell me how to cache all the thumbs i have which i can use later for searching and ofcourse without recaching them again and again. sorry i am bit ignorant about this.

But in short: a method which lets me create thumbs once in for all and never bother me ever.

You have to check Configuration/Thumbs/"... of search results, too", and then do a search to create a search results cache.

Reason: "browse caches" and "search results caches" differ in that the latter have to store the path information for each item (because of recursive searching and multi-directory searching). So SR-caches tend to be much larger. I decided to make B-caches as quick as possible so I kept them separate from SR-caches. Disadvantage: the first search has to create a new cache from the same files. However, when you search for "*" (all files) once, then you're done once and for all with caching. More specific future searches will draw from the same SR-cache.

Well, thanks for that. I could cache all my fotos by using "*" in search, but still i had to click through all my fotoalbum subfolders manually and cache them since browse cache is different from search. Though i dont have to care since i have cached everything, i still suggest a "one-click magic thing" where thumbs can be cached for both browse and search.
