Next time the forum gets moved, maybe give a better warning?

Post by j_c_hallgren »

So this evening, I signed back on to my PC...started bringing up my usual sites I check daily via Favorites...clicked on XY forum...got a 404 Not Fnd!
Ok... :? so what had happened to my XY Admin and my fellow users???

Humm...went back to main site...and it took a minute to figure out where it had gone! Renamed and moved to different path...ah! 8)

I thought I was paying attention...did I miss a warning about this change?
Or should there have been a redirect from old URL like most sites do?

Anyway, back to being :)
Still spending WAY TOO much time here! But it's such a pleasure helping XY be a treasure!
(XP on laptop with touchpad and thus NO mouse!) Using latest beta vers when possible.

lol, yeah got me worried too at first ;)

I dont think there was any "warnings" no, but when the move was made from TV3 to XY there was a redirection, if Don didn't set one up this time it might be cause he forgot, or lazyness :P or it might be on purpose trying to avoid some robots or something like that?

HAHA, I thought let's give them a quick little brain gym; real XY Fanatics will easily find the way. And they did! :D

Welcome back from summer camp, jc! BTW, I'll go there soon. You'll get an official notice then.

Lazy, me? No, hiding the tracks indeed had the purpose you guessed:
- make "life" a bit harder for robots and astroturfers
- clean the google cache: google indexed almost the whole forum, which might be the reason that xyplorer.com is not found at all when you google for "file manager" (apparently; I stopped looking after paging through 500 search results... ).
