list selection by keyboard on extension ???

Hi

went several times thru the configuration menus to find what I did to change the usual keyboard selection in list.

when I enter "p" from the keyboard it doesnt select "perfect.txt" but "any.pdf" the selection is done on the extension ???

tried on a fresh and it does work as intended .... select on the first letters

feel dumb, please en-light me
