I'm trying to understand what's going on and "caching" is the only thing that comes to mind. This may serve the purpose of speed but there must be a tweak or something anywhere I'm missing, so I'm asking for a little help.
The problem: say I have a "setup.exe" on a folder, non-standard icon. When I copy other file with the same name, but having a custom icon, the latter doesn't show up and the only way to get it updated is restarting XYplorer. Is there a way to get this behavior changed to the standard "you see what's really there"?
P.S.: tried to upload a .jpg screenshot but the forum reported "The extension is not allowed."
How to have a better ICO experience than current?

Re: How to have a better ICO experience than current?
I'm a bit confused: do you mean you have two .exe-files with the same name but different icons, with the second one when moved in the same folder (after deleting or moving the first one) showing the icon of the first one instead of its own?tiago wrote:I'm trying to understand what's going on and "caching" is the only thing that comes to mind. Edited to add: You're right, I can confirm that the steps above make the second file take on the icon of the first file until XYplorer is restarted.

I don't know nothing, but maybe try this:
menu "View > Refresh"
or
menu "Tools > Configuration..." Advanced | Icons , [ ] Cache specific icons
?

I don't know about the OP, but I had that setting enabled and Refresh didn't with regard to the icon.Stefan wrote:but maybe try this:

That's a (accurate) double negation, isn't it?I don't know nothing, ...

Un-checking "cache specific icons" followed by a list refresh did the trick.
Thank you guys.
