Questions on Tags and Comments

My question has to do with the relationship of Tags and Comments between Windows Explorer and XYplorer.

I've created two test documents in Word 2007. After saving them I have gone back through 'properties' in Windows Explorer and added a tag and comment to one of the documents. The tag and comment does not show when I list the file in XYplorer. I had already added both selections to the header(?) bar.

I then added a tag and comment to the 2nd document using XYplorer. When I check the 'properties' on this document with Windows Explorer neither is shown.

Are tags and comments in each manager different? Meaning one manager cannot read what is added by the other?

Also, I found the "Find by Tags" selection in XYplorer. Can a search be performed on the comment?

I have looked through the help pdf and tried a couple of different searches on the forum but did not seem to find anything that addresses these questions.

This is on a Win 7 64 bit PC.

Yes, they are different because XY's are stored in tag.dat within the XY data folder..I'm not a W7 person so don't know where your WE holds those.

But the presumption is that you'll be doing your FM from within a given FM and not constantly swapping appl's.

True, on the only using one FM. Which will be XY. It is just that I already have some docs that I had placed tags & comments in and was hoping they could be accessed.

Sure enough... there it is for searching comments. I was looking more for it being in the find window and not the filter area. In the past I have been more accustomed to just typing into a search box and not creating filters like shown starting on page 134 of the pdf help guide.

It's like anything else that is new or a little different. Just takes some time getting used to it.
