Right-click select not reflected in Preview/File View pane

A small bug, but it might lead to some confusion:

Let's assume you have two (text) files with different contents in a directory. If you select the first file and click on the preview tab, the contents of that file is shown. Now, if you right-click on the other file (to rename or open it), the second file is selected, but the preview pane stays unchanged, still showing the contents of the first file. Same thing happens with the file view.

Properties and version seem to work as expected.

Nice program, BTW. It convinced me to buy it after only one hour trial.

It might, indeed. However, this behavior is present since years, and up to now nobody ever complained. So it might make some sense.
The rule behind it is: right-click selection should not (a) start a new preview, (b) stop an ongoing preview.
At least part (a) still makes sense to me. What about (b)? Dropping it would stop the potentially confusing behavior you described. But is it good? I'll think about it...

Well, it happened to me only accidentally.

I see your point. To be consequent you'd have to stop an ongoing preview, but whatever you decide, it's not a showstopper for me.

You got a second comment (but not a complaint), although I've never noticed it before.

It also applies to JPG files, but with them the preview clears on right clicking the context menu.

It is confusing (and I think a bug) that the Preview pane is not displaying the information about the focused file. It's also not consistent in that the Properties and Version do change with the right click but the Preview does not - If one changes then they should all change.

It can result in a somewhat devious error with the following sequence. Select a file, right click on a different file, copy info to clipboard, right click on Preview, select all, copy. The Preview information on the clipboard is then not for the file that the info was copied from (assuming a clipboard manager is used where a history of clipboard information is saved).

So you are voting for starting a fresh preview on right-click selection? There might be some consequences you don't like. I'm sure I don't like them. I'm happy that the preview stays silent when I right-click a file.

The smaller solution would be to stop any preview on right-click selection (of a different file). It's somewhat inconsequent because it stops but does not start. But you are right:

Whoops, wwwwait a moment. I just see that stopping any ongoing preview on right-click is already implemented! The only exception is text files, resp. "File View". Of course, behavior should be the same here as in "Preview", so: yes, it's a bug!
