Which Catalog is this?

With the number of Catalogs now increasing like rabbits in Spring due to all the great new features it would be nice if somehow some way the name of the open Catalog could be displayed in the user interface.

Going the other way, when viewing the Catalog pop-up menu could the word "catalog" be suppressed from each name? We know we're looking at that list.

The current Catalog is the first catalog (01 - ...) in the MRU list in the Catalog submenu.

First point not really worth pursuing as no one else on the planet likely needs it.

The second is because it is hard on the eyes and also superfluous to see "catalog" repeated to the Nth degree.

These are your filenames. You can call them whatever you want...

I'm sort of hijacking this thread .. How to remove catalogs that are not in use anymore from this list (file deleted)? Now they are just greyed out.

These are your file names. You can call them whatever you want...

That is most edifying! On parsing the instructions the first time but not reading them again the idea got into my head that it was hard coded that Catalog had to be a part of the name.

Now all is well and no change or modifying of the source code is required.

BTW - Greater emphasis should be called to the function Tools > List Management > Recent Catalogs. This has been missed by more than one user.

Ba upgrading to v9.90.0603 and me liking neat installations I moved my catalogs to the new subdir \Data\Catalogs, edited the paths in LM Recent Catalogs, only to find a new catalog.dat file recreated in subdir \Data after restarting XY w/ saving.
Loading the catalog from the new directory and another restart solved this.

Stumbled into another oddity while cleaning up catalog files:
Wouldn't it make sense, that Catalog/Save Copy As wouldn't load the newly created copy?
Or what else would be the difference between Save As and Save Copy As then?

And finally, shouldn't the Open Catalog browser window point to the new standard location for catalogs?

1. Strange. Cannot repro this. But it sounds minor anway.

2. Strange again. "Save Copy As" does not load the newly created copy here.

3. I rather chose the path of the current catalog. This gives you the option to have another (namely the last used) folder as default path.

Here is the source of confusion. When invoking Catalog|Open the default Files of type is "Catalog Files (cat*.dat)". That lead to the erronious conclusion it was madatory Catalog be part of the name.

Due to a cognitive deficient on the part of the this user did not navigate to the drop down list to see the other entries, namely DAT files (.dat).

The "cat*.dat" filter has been removed in the latest betas.
