Multiple Window Issues

Post by JDługosz »

I want to have multiple main windows, as well as multiple tabs in each window.

When I changed a setting (added a toolbar icon) on one instance, it did not show up in the other. I went into File > Settings > Load Configuration... , and it looked just the same!

I think I figured out that "Load" in the second window first saves its own existing, even if I didn't change anything in that instance, thus overwriting the file I want to load. That is, "exit without saving" and then running again did the trick.

So, a quick "fix" is to have a "reload settings" menu option that doesn't prompt for the file to load. Also, if it knows there are changes to settings so it displays the disk icon's state and even tells me how many changes there are pending, why does it save at all if there are zero changes?

You can go "File > Restart without Saving" on an unchanged instance and changes in the other will be reflected. Also, just because disk icon is green, it does not mean that there are no changes to save. Things like state of the tree, what columns are shown in the list, etc are all saved when you exit (unless specified otherwise).
