Currently the Catalog is prefilled with favorite folders and files on startup -- but this is meant to be just during the development phase, so that you have something to play with; when the catalog is ready
for real, it will come empty and you have to populate it yourself. I originally have not planned any automatic connection (like synchronizing) with the traditional favorites.
But, favorite folders in the catalog is not bad, is it? But how should it be implemented? 2-way synchronizing (change favs -> auto-changes catalog and vice versa)? A touch too much voodoo for my taste...
What about a command to "Import favorite folders here" or "Synch current category with favorite folders now"? That way we have independence between cat and fav together with an easy way to have your favs in the cat.

Sounds good to me.admin wrote:What about a command to "Import favorite folders here" or "Synch current category with favorite folders now"? That way we have independence between cat and fav together with an easy way to have your favs in the cat.

Re: Catalog and Favorites
I like the favs in the cat, but I guess the other questions depends on whether there's gonna be the same functionality for favs in both places. e.g. if you can do grouping of favs in cat only, I might not wanna loose my groupings by synchronizing it with the favs, so I might decide once the cat is ready and we're allowed to place wishes for its further development.

Re: Catalog and Favorites
The normal favs would just correspond to one category (or "group" if you like) of the catalog, so grouping would not be a problem here.RalphM wrote:... if you can do grouping of favs in cat only, I might not wanna loose my groupings by synchronizing it with the favs...
Well, the catalog is almost finished, only the most important feature and its original raison d'etre is missing: dropability. Hope to do that tomorrow... then you can place wishes and report bugs
