I *think* that the non-editable information is pulled from the Windows registry. Uninstalling your multimedia software will hopefully restore the class information in the registry sufficiently to have K-Lite become the default QuickTime renderer. So no, resetting your XYplorer config shouldn't make a difference.
(I did mention something about a HD image already, didn't I?

Sorry there's no easy solution for this, but multimedia codecs and their entrenchment in Windows is an acknowledged pain point.)
