Working with video files:Splitting and 'Cropping'

Post by shady2wit »

:idea: this one is related to preview pane

You are having a large amount of, let's say DVR recorded tv shows

TV shows are a good example as they are usually recorded with approximate start and stop times, there are many different shows in one recording etc.

File.avi <Beginning of fileBOF>|show1|show2|show3|<End Of FileEOF>

So when previewing it would be a snap to mark split points, click right mouse button and choose "Split file".

The resulting file(s) would be split with the same name plus -number suffix

File-01 <BOF|show1|<EOF>
File-02 <BOF|show2|<EOF>

...

Cropping would work just as picture crop function in every Image editor;
mark an area and "Crop" to discard everything around that area.

File.avi <Beginning of fileBOF>|show1|show2|show3|<End Of FileEOF>

Crop and result:

File.avi<BOF>|show2|<EOF>

I haven't seen this feat in ANY file manager, and it is GOLD for this application.

Of course, If I see this in XYplorer, I want to be contacted on my email, and given substantial percentage in advance to our forthcoming cooperation. 8)

How about building in Outlook-esqe capabilities...email, calendaring, etc. :lol:

In all seriousness, XY should stay a (mostly) file management tool. Although I wouldn't argue if you built in FTP support. :wink: (FTP is file management related)
