Unable to preview RTF files

Post by DaveR »

When I click on an .RTF file, with Preview selected, I get the message "You have chosen to download a file from this location".. & the only option is to Save to Disk, which is already checked. The option "Always ask before opening this type of file" is grayed out, so I can't change that. .DOC files don't exhibit this behaviour - they're displayed OK in Preview.

I looked for a preference setting to change this behaviour, but couldn't find one. Any suggestions? TIA

I just tried to preview RTF like what you mentioned and indeed it asked me to save to disk. But i got two more options apart from save to disk, which is 'open' and 'cancel'. I unchecked the option "Always ask before opening this type of file" and clicked Open and i can preview it like doc files. And then it doesnt bother you to 'save to disk' anymore. i dont know why it is different for docs and RTFs but this should work i guess.
